Recent Work - Business Portraits and Google Glass

It's been a while since I've posted some recent work.  With embargo periods and things being shot months in advance, I get a little out of sync with self promotion.  Working in DC, as you can imagine, there are always opportunities in photographing portraits for business types.

Plus I get the occasional Story Assignment....  Google Glass

Kill Devil Hills...

Its winter and apparently its time for another trip to the beach.  It is not that Bridget and I steer clear of beaches during more appropriate seasons and weather conditions, it is that this time of year dogs are allowed on the beach.  And our dog loves the beach.  Loves to lick the beach, sniff the prevailing stink of the ocean and everything that's rotting, and chase anything that moves.

My appreciation for black and white grows the longer I'm a photographer.  I wouldn't say I was adverse to black and white as much as it was always an after thought.  That's probably information I should keep to myself but I do not get asked to shoot black and white, I usually just provide a few files to show its possible but they never get selected.  For me b&w has become the ultimate stripping down of the photo to it's most basic elements.  I have continually pushed and explored the ideas of shadow detail and white and black point to help construct the mood and quality of the image.  To me b&w immediately conveys an interpretation of the subject as the photo is presented in such a foreign state with no color.  Removing color seems to slow the fleeting state of the today's photographic image and I like that.
